UHV Cell
The first day began with the inaugural session and orientation to the FDP. The sessions focused on:Holistic development and the role of education, Self-exploration, happiness, and prosperity Harmony in the human being, Harmony in the self and related discussions .Interactive discussions and collaborative group activities enriched participant engagement throughout the day.
The second day started with an informal sharing session and recap of the previous day’s learnings. The major themes discussed included:Prosperity and health, Understanding relationships and human feelings, Discussions on family harmony and mutual understanding The day concluded with tutorial and group interaction sessions, enabling participants to reflect upon and discuss the concepts introduced.
The final day focused on intention , competence ,and understanding human feelings Harmony in the family through trust and respect various feelings, broader dimensions of harmony:Harmony in society, Harmony in nature, Harmony in existence, Self-evaluation and reflection by participants. Participants shared their reflection and feedback and experiences gained through the FDP.
Throughout the programme, the sessions delivered by Dr. N. Sunil Kumar were highly insightful, thought-provoking, and interactive. The concepts were presented in a simple and relatable manner mostly in English but Malayalam also at times, encouraging deep reflection and active participation among attendees.
We are grateful to Mr. G. Jayaprakash for his valuable observations and support during the programme. We also express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Ushakumari mam and Dr Veena Nair for the effective coordination and guidance in organizing this FDP successfully.
15 external participants and 32 internal participants had attended the session . We saw active participation from both our external colleagues from college of Engineering Trivandrum , College of Engineering Muttathara, Sree Narayana Institute of technology, Lourde Matha college , Trinity college, Nooral Islam college of engineering, Polytechnic college ,Nedumangad, and Sister institutions Sarvodaya Vidyalaya central and ICSE sections, Law college , in addition to the internal faculty at Mar Baselios Engineering College. The face-to-face interactions facilitated deep group discussions, peer-to-peer learning, and shared reflections on how best to integrate these human values into our respective engineering curricula.

As part of its commitment to promoting Universal Human Values (UHV), the UHV Cell of Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology (MBCET) organized an outreach visit to Psycho Park, Thiruvananthapuram, on 3 July 2026. The programme was attended by 38 students and 6 faculty members. Participants explored interactive exhibits and educational displays on mental health, emotional well-being, and self-awareness. The visit encouraged meaningful discussions on empathy, responsible behaviour, and healthy relationships while highlighting the importance of psychological well-being. The programme provided an enriching learning experience, reinforcing Universal Human Values and promoting compassion, self-reflection, and social responsibility among the participants.

Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology, Trivandrum, Kerala , has been recognized as a Nodal Centre for Universal Human Values (UHV) by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the period 2025–27.

UHV Cell at MBCET
About
As per the direction from AICTE, every College affiliated to AICTE is required to set up Universal Human Values(UHV) Cell at College Level. As per the AICTE reference document,G911 UHV Cell, Nodal and Resource Centres (http://www.fdp-si.aicte-india.org/download.php) following are some of the guidelines.

Activities
The UHV cell conducted a Theme Centered Interaction (TCI) based UHV workshop on 4 and 5th of July 2024 at Faraday Hall. More than 30 faculty and staff members participated in the Activity based workshop. Resource Person: Dr. S. Ushakumari. Coordinators: Ms. Manju, Asst. Professor (EEE) and Ms. Vijitha Robinson, Asst. Professor(CS) Dr. Veena Nair, Asst. Professor ( SH).
The Teaching-Learning Centre and UHV cell of MBCET organized a one-day workshop, ‘ An Introduction to UHV’ on 08-05-2026. The Resource persons for the workshop were Dr. S Ushakumari, Dean, Corporate Relations and Convener, UVH Cell, MBCET, and Dr. Jisha S.V, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering. 18 faculty members participated in the workshop. The session was highly beneficial in promoting value-based education among faculty members.
UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES WORKSHOP FOR Stackmod Innovations Staff
A workshop on ‘Universal Human Values’ was conducted on 02/02/24 and 03/02/24 in our College at Pascal Hall from 9.30 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Resource Persons: Dr S.Ushakumari and Dr. Jisha S.V, HoD CE. 25 Stackmod staff members participated in the programme. Sessions on various topics like Value Education, namely, Basic Aspiration,Right Understanding in the Self, Right Understanding of Relationships, Right Understanding of Physical Facility were taken. Mr. Vipin Kumar, Corporate Relations and Dr. Veena Nair coordinated the programme. Ms. Sanjana D.S, S3 CS1 student also participated and shared her UHV experience.
UHV Neyyar Dam tr
A one day trip to Neyyar Dam was organized by UHV cell on December 9, 2023. Around 20 students from various branches (first year and second year) visited the dam. Miss Manju, Miss Soji, (Asst. Professors, EEE Department), Dr. Anne Dickson (Asst. Professor, CS, Mr. Johnson George, Lab Instructor (CE) and Dr. Veena Nair (Asst. Professor, S & H) accompanied the students. A discussion on UHV was held between the students and teachers. A session on nature and Neyyar Dam was given by the officials at the Neyyar Dam. Event Coordinators: Dr. Elizabeth C. Awareness Programme
UHV CELL MBCET has conducted an awareness programme on the topic ‘Incorporating Universal Human Values’ on 21-05-22. Bursar Rev. Fr. John Varghese, Asst. Bursar Rev. Fr. Thomas Mukalumpurath , Student Counsellor Fr. Bitty Mathew , Principal Dr.AbrahamT.Mathew, Vice Principal Dr.S.Viswanatha Rao , all faculty, non-teaching and supporting staff members attended the programme.
AICTE Teaching material content was briefly explained by Dr.ElizabethC.Kuruvilla and Dr.S.Ushakumari. Dr.Vidya Vilas and Dr.Veena Nair shared their experiences of UHV exploration. MBCET UHV CELL activities were also briefed by the convener Dr.Elizabeth.
UHV Regional Conference
Dr. Elizabeth C Kuruvilla (CED), Dr. Ushakumari. S (EED), Dr. Vidya Vilas (SH), Dr. Veena Nair (SH) attended the Southern, South- Central, South Western Regional Conference of UHV Volunteers held from 28 to 30 April, 2022 by AICTE at RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru.
